Motus Sonus: Bimhuis x WhyNot

Motus Sonus is an interdisciplinary experimental project curated by Netherlands-based artists, dancer and choreographer Alesya Dobysh and music composer Max Frimout. Their work explore the interplay between movement, sound, and space, adapting each performance to the architectural and acoustic features of the venue and the contributing guest artists.

Alesya and Max collaborate with local and international artists from a wide range of disciplines, including performance art, sound art, and street and club dance, to investigate how sonic and physical practices inform one another within a live setting.

The event, presented by WhyNot and Bimhuis as part of Music Meets Dance on September 17th in Amsterdam, featured Moroccan choreographer Mehdi Dahkan, whose physically dynamic work draws from breakdance, parkour, and urban practices to explore personal and collective behaviour shaped by contemporary Maghreb culture; and Xenia Sairento, a Paris-based experimental dancer who bridges urban forms and somatic research, known for redefining femininity within the electro dance community.
